Trash the Tray
To assist with this transition and celebrate the positive impact that our new smoke free community will have on the health and well being of our citizens, the Health Unit is organizing a kickoff event to take place on May 31, 2006, “Trash the Tray”. The premise behind the event is for local establishments and business like yours, to donate their un-usable ashtrays to raise money for the Hospice of Windsor. The amount of funds donated will be dependant upon the total weight of donated ashtrays. For every pound of recyclable ashtray materials, the Health Unit will donate $5 up to a maximum of $1500. The event will take place in the morning of May 31st at which time we will have a recycling truck traveling on a pre-mapped route making various stops in areas of the city to allow for the ashtray donations. There will be an event ceremony once the route has been completed at the Hospice of Windsor office at which time the funds will be presented.
The Health Unit encourages all members of the business community in Windsor to come and participate in this worthwhile event. Not only is it a great way to ensure that your place of business is in compliance with the new Smoke Free legislation, but is also a great way to give back to the community. If you have any further questions about the event or would like to learn more information about the smoke free legislation, please contact the Health Unit (519) 258-2146 ext 3215
